Malcolm Klotz
Founder and CTO

Malcolm is an entrepreneurial minded technology business solutions innovator in diverse business segments, Malcolm established Re-Solved in 2007.

Malcolm has architected some of the largest philanthropy GMSs including Rotary Global, Ontario Trillium Foundation and many others. Over the last twelve years he has successfully rolled out SmartSimple for over 30 clients around the globe. Malcolm’s exceptional track record of providing project management, solution architecture and customized solutions is based on his understanding of the necessary harmony between technology and operations. Over his 20-year career, he has become known for his ability to translate complex business challenges into technology solutions that enable organizations to transform.

Malcolm has a BSC Honors in Computer Science from York University.

Mariana Catz
Managing Partner

Mariana brings over 20 years of transformational leadership in the not for profit, public and private sectors.

Mariana has held senior roles driving digital and business transformation combined with her deep expertise in outcome and impact measurement. She was Chief Operating Officer at the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Canada’s largest granting foundation. There, she spearheaded the complete overhaul and implementation of the largest evidence- and outcomes-based granting methodology and its associated systems. She has held roles as Chief Information Officer, Senior VP Transformation, Health Canada’s Chief Advisor for eHealth. Mariana worked internationally through her roles as a Partner at Accenture Inc. and at the World Health Organization in Geneva.

Mariana holds a Master’s in Health Science from the University of Toronto and is an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.

Philip Babcock
Director of Development

Philip brings 20 years of experience in analyzing, planning, designing, implementing and maintaining desktop and web software solutions across many industries and verticals.

Philip is responsible for the design and implementation of customized software solutions at Re-Solved. He has hands on experience leading all stages of application development and delivering solutions that have helped countless companies, people, and communities around the world including e-commerce, trades, banking, veterinary medicine, corporate giving, grants management and research.

Philip holds a Diploma in Architectural Design from Humber College and a Diploma in Programming from CDI College, Toronto.

Jennifer Botten
Head of Consulting & Business Solutions

Jennifer brings over 15 years of experience leading all phases of multimillion-dollar enterprise technology projects aligning business goals with technology solutions to enable organizations to achieve their vision and impact.  She has specialized expertise in product development, implementation, and agile project management in many verticals: Healthcare, Education, Mining, Financial and Banking sectors.

Jennifer was Senior IT Project Manager and Systems Analyst with Cystic Fibrosis Foundation where she managed critical initiatives including the implementation of SmartSimple Cloud for Grants Management. She re-engineered their grants processes and led financial integration for this essential business area which drives Research and Clinical Research in the continued success of drug to market and a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. In her previous roles, Jennifer managed critical areas of the business, including Go-To-Market and ERP platforms. She led the migration of an on-premise ERP platform to Oracle Cloud ERP, integration of M&A business units into a single Salesforce corporate instance, and delivery of Oracle Cloud CPQ as the quoting tool for the Go-To-Market business unit. She also consulted with global companies in integrating solutions to South African business units. 

Jennifer is a professional SCRUM Master (PSM) and is working towards her ITIL 4 Foundation Certification and Green Belt in Six Sigma.


Jen Carter
Director, Client Success

Jen guides clients to achieve desired outcomes. She is responsible for bringing Re-Solved best ideas, innovations, and capabilities to clients, so they realize greater impact and value. She gets clients ready for the implementation phase as well as ensures that the platform is well understood to maximize its impact.

Before joining Re-Solved, Jen worked as municipal government manager in the areas of policy, evaluation, and program design and development. She played a leadership role in the creation of municipal granting programs and including the design and configuration of six distinct programs through the SmartSimple platform. She has a strong understanding of the government and non-profit sectors and has a passion for supporting people to use technology to complement and enhance their business practices.

Jen holds a BA in Criminology from King’s University College in London, ON.


Mariana M. Cisneros
Manager, Emergence Solutions

Mariana has 10 years of experience in training, design, implementation and deployment of software solutions in the Corporate Giving, Grants Management, Research Management and Case Management verticals with the SmartSimple platform.

Since joining Re-Solved, she has built and helped improve systems for a wide variety of clients such as The American Academy of Neurology, The YMCA of the USA, Ontario Trillium Foundation, SNAP Child Development, VPI, Toronto Arts Council, Creative Saskatchewan, USADF and Royal Bank of Canada. She brings several years of front-line customer service experience, and she is passionate about empowering people through the use of technology so that their work can make a difference in the world.

Mariana is a Computer Science Engineer with a Major in Database Design and Management and completed her studies in Toluca, Mexico.

Katelyn Davis
Director, Architecture

Katelyn designs and implements software solutions for a variety of Grants Management clients.

Katelyn has over five years of experience with the SmartSimple platform and uses this experience to help organizations translate their processes into a technological solution. Before joining the company, Katelyn was the Team Lead, Technical Community Support at SmartSimple Software, where she helped empower clients so they could realize the full potential of their Grants Management system.

Katelyn holds a BSc in Genetics from The University of Western Ontario and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Bioinformatics from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology.

Arjun Hiranandani
Manager, Ascent Solutions

Arjun has over four years of experience with the SmartSimple system and has extensive knowledge of how to use the platform to implement client requirements. At SmartSimple Software, Arjun started as a Technical Community Support assisting existing clients, before quickly moving over to a Level Two role followed by Team Lead role in the support team and most recently as an Application Service Manager where he was responsible for analyzing client needs, system scoping, implementation of small to mid-size systems as well as perform system reviews for any vertical. Having worked in different departments and verticals, Arjun has gained in-depth knowledge of the platform. Over the last three years he has also worked on projects for JM Philanthropy, Pacific Foundation Services, Ontario Brain Institute, American Health Care Association, Merz North America, and Central Indiana Community Foundation. Arjun holds a BEng in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Maharishi Dayanand University, India and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Wireless Information Networking from Sir Sandford Fleming College.

Susan Knolla
Head Of People & Culture

Susan Knolla is an international human capital expert with over 20 years experience leading global teams in Oil & Gas, IT consulting, banking, telecommunications, contact centers, and a variety of consumer goods and manufacturing industries.

While originally from New Brunswick, Susan brings international experience having lived and worked globally – living in The Netherlands for over 12 years leading international HR teams in a variety of areas. She is also fluent in Dutch. She returned to Canada as an expat to lead HR for the Canadian operations of CGI (AMS) in Ottawa and eventually back to New Brunswick to manage operational HR activities for multiple high growth contact centers. Most recently she led People Analytics & Compensation at a large multinational.

Susan brings depth of expertise in talent management, performance management, coaching, leadership development, employee relations, compensation, and analytics. She has also led organizations through significant growth, digital transformation, HR operationalization, and change initiatives.

Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology from The University of New Brunswick. She also holds certifications in: Six Sigma Green Belt, Prosci Change Management, Myers Briggs I & II, Predictive Index, Via Edge Learning Agility, Talking Talent Succession Management, and 360 Degree Feedback.

Passionate about data analytics in her spare time she speaks on panels and podcasts, as well as partners with local universities on their analytics curriculum and business partnership sessions. Outside of work Susan is an avid traveler, runner, and amateur plant-based chef.

Kathy Krais
Head of Marketing

Kathy brings more than 25 years of experience leading marketing and communications for startups, nonprofit organizations, and B2B corporations. Kathy was Director of Brand and Marketing at the New Jersey Society of CPAs, where she led the development of a contemporary vision for the Society alongside new products and services to address changing member needs. Previously, Kathy was Director of Marketing, Corporate & Foundation Solutions at Blackbaud, one of the largest cloud software vendors worldwide. At Blackbaud, she devised thought leadership strategy for Blackbaud Outcomes, software that empowers funders and grantee partners to measure the impact of their social investments. Kathy also served as Head of Marketing at MicroEdge, where she directed strategic initiatives including company re-branding, communications strategies to sustain client confidence through acquisitions and restructuring, and go-to-market tactics that created rapid, scalable growth for MicroEdge’s family of philanthropic software and services. Kathy holds a B.A. in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame.

Norma Lopez Cruz
Office Manager

Norma brings over 15 years of experience as an Office Manager, as well as project management and Executives’ support.

She spent ten years as the Client Services Administrator with Caliper Canada. Prior to joining Caliper in 2009, Norma worked for the Publisher Representative of Hachette Filipacchi, Hanley Wood, AARP & Audubon in Canada as well as in the Electronic Distributor and Manufacturing Turn-Key Industries. Norma also worked in the Textile Industry as Production – Scheduler Manager and within the Financial Industry in Mexico.

Norma holds a Business Administration Degree and a Posgrade in International Commerce from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico.

Atin Sood
Manager, Support Services

Atin has over four years of experience as an IT Consultant working in systems implementation, integration, and technical support.

Atin was Senior Technical Account Advisor at SmartSimple, where he trained, mentored, and managed the Technical Customer Support team, a 17-member team and the largest in the company. For the past few years, he handled nearly all major strategic corporate accounts. Previously, Atin was Technical Account Supervisor where he scoped complex requirements, automated business processes, and mentored the technical support team on issue troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution.

Atin holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Punjab Technical University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Software Engineering from Centennial College.

Efron Sturmwind
Team Lead

Efron Sturmwind has an extensive background in supporting and managing software implementation projects.

Previously, Efron served as a cloud administrator in the non-profit sector. There he gathered technical requirements and worked to deploy large organization wide software changes and upgrades, all while administering the day-to-day system operations. Coming from the non-profit sector has given Efron a deep insight into the needs of the client and helps him in his role to provide the best solutions to meet organization needs.

Efron holds a B.A. in Sociology from Yeshiva University.

Ioan Williams
Manager, Boost Solutions

Ioan has over seven years of experience with the SmartSimple system and has extensive knowledge of how to utilize the platform to empower his clients.

At SmartSimple Software, Ioan gained experience supporting clients as a Technical Community Support, before quickly moving over to the Implementation Team as a Senior Business Analyst and most recently worked as a Systems Solutions Architect where he was responsible for analyzing client needs, system architecture, implementation and deployment of some of the largest systems to date. Having implemented systems for The Coca-Cola Foundation, University of California, Office of the President, Universities Canada and many others, Ioan has gained in-depth knowledge across a wide range of different verticals.

Kelly Zacher
Head of Client Services

Kelly Zacher has been with Re-Solved since its start in 2007 and currently serves as the liaison between Re-Solved and its clients, ensuring excellent customer service and client satisfaction. 

Throughout Kelly’s 17-year career in the information technology industry, she has combined her technical skills with her communication skills to lead, implement, and deliver successful projects. 

Kelly has a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of British Columbia and Computer Programmer Diploma with high honours from Seneca College.

Leah Zilnik
Director, Business Enablement

Leah brings over 15 years of transformational change in the public sector and has been at the forefront of advising organizations on how to change for the better.

As an internal consultant for cities across Canada, she has applied her continuous improvement and innovation mindset to drive employee engagement and customer satisfaction. Leah’s work experience has resulted in more efficient results for communities. At the City of Calgary, she developed a service review approach that identified millions in cost savings. She also spent two years supporting the Mayor to build Calgary into one of Canada’s leading cities. Leah was the Director of Strategy and Transformation at the City of Vaughan, managing a portfolio of 10 corporate projects to improve customer service, operational effectiveness, and staff engagement. Most recently, Leah was the Manager of Service Innovation at the City of Richmond Hill where she launched the City’s Lean program that cut process delivery time in half.

Lead holds a Master of Public Administration from Queen’s University. Leah is also a certified Lean Green Belt and is working to complete her Black Belt.
